Si3N4 ceramic balls reduce bearing wear and increase bearing life by eliminating steel on steel contact within the bearing. When properly installed (black seal in for BBs) and adjusted, Enduro Angular Contact (A/C) bearings engage all of the bearing's balls to spread the force over a larger surface area, minimizing wear and increasing bearing life. This is particularly important in applications like BBs, where there are constantly changing lateral loads on the bearings, which is typically the primary cause for premature bottom bracket bearing failure. The most common use for this bearing is as a direct replacement bearing for BB30, PF30 and BB386 and most other bottom brackets with a 30mm OD spindle.
